JUNIOR VICE COMMANDER’S
MESSAGE
We
have the Children’s Easter Party coming up on
Sunday, April 11, 2010 at
2:00 pm and I have it on good authority that the Easter Bunny will be
stopping by for a visit. The party is for children 15 years and under.
There is a sign-up slip in order to have a count of how many will be
attending. We do ask that the children be accompanied by a
parent/guardian. Deadline for sign-up is April 5, 2010. There will be an envelope in
the grille for the sign-up slips. The sooner the slips are in the better
for an accurate count of those attending.
My year as Jr. Vice Commander is coming to a close and I would
like to thank all of you for
your help and support with the events in the last year. Without the
ground work help from the American Legion Family at Post 6 these would
not have been as successful. Just to name a few, the S.A.L. and your
help on the Children’s Outing, the Grille staff with the Adult Outing,
and the Ladies’ help with the Children’s Halloween, Christmas, and
Easter parties, and not forgotten, all the volunteers pitching in to
help.
I wish for all of the
incoming officers of the Frank E. Booma Post be as well supported and
successful.
John Moulton, Post Jr. Vice Commander

Everyone –Please note that we will be having our next meeting on
Wednesday, March 14, 2010.
Second nominations have come and gone but we still have some open

to be successful it is important to have an Adjutant and a Finance
Officer, helping to run things smoothly.
Won’t you consider filling either of these positions? Hope to see
you at the next meeting and during elections!

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Hello ladies. Elections will happen on the 15th of
April. We hope to see you there. The Children's Easter Party will be
held one week after the actual Easter Sunday. Dig out the sign up sheet
and get the names of your children or grandchildren in so that they can
enjoy the late arrival of the Easter Bunny. Part of the reason for the
delay is because of the renovations going on in the Grille at the time
of this writing. If any of you have information that you could pass on
to us for inclusion in the year-end reports now is the time to get that
to us. Did you voice your concerns in letters, emails or phone calls to
any political person? If you sent any letters or received any answers
please include a copy. Did you attend any town meetings? Have you driven
a neighbor to the store or Doctor's? Did you buy Girl Scout Cookies? Did
you Volunteer your time anywhere? Did you donate blood? Did you sign up
to be an organ donor? Did you get your long hair cut and donate the hair
to Locks of Love? Did you donate used clothing to any organization? Did
you donate foods to a food drive? Did you help out with Legion
functions? Did you send packages to military personnel overseas? Did you
drive a Veteran (Sorry, we can not count your spouse.) to appointments.
Did you fly the American flag? Did you display a Blue Star or Gold Star
banner? Did you participate in any walk for Cancer, or other disease?
Did you participate in the Penguin Plunge? Did you sponsor anyone who
did these last two things? Did you sing at your church? Do you belong to
a choir? Did you give money to the collection plate at church? Did you
vote? Did you drive anyone to the Polling places? Did you attend wakes
or funerals? Did you send out Get Well, Sympathy, Thinking of You or
Birthday Cards? Do you use the Flag stamp or the Pink Ribbon stamp? Did
you donate to the MDA telethon or a firefighters boot drive? Do you
sponsor an underprivileged child? Did you baby sit for anyone outside
your family? Do you chaperone school events? Did you put money in
donation cans at stores for children's organizations? Did you help with
any Habitat for Humanity projects? Did you contribute to any bake sales
or buy from any bake sale? Did you attend or participate in any parades?
Did you donate books? Did you attend any send off or welcome home
parties for veterans? Are you a Pease Greeter? Did you buy any raffle
tickets? If you said YES to any of the above please note how much money
you spent, how long it took you to do each thing, mileage and send it to
us. Please address it to: American Legion Auxiliary, Frank E. Booma Unit
#6, 96 Islington Street, Portsmouth, NH 03801. The above information is
utilized yearly. So if you are supplying us with estimates of what you
have done for the last year, maybe you would start keeping track of all
that you do and send us a copy each spring. The above is only a partial
list, if you would like a more extensive partial list please let us
know. We will make sure you get one. Thank you for your time and energy
in being a member.

GRILLE
STEWARD’S MESSAGE
Hello and
welcome to spring! We have had a busy!!!!! month with /St. Patrick’s Day
with the dinner sold-out and was a huge success.
Thanks to our hard working volunteers, Sheila Katsonas, Darlene
D’Amour, Trudy Huff, Karen Hemstrought, could not have done it without
you!! Our grille project is near completion and the bar top is gorgeous,
special thanks once again to our many volunteers who have worked
tirelessly. Everyone’s many
skills made it possible to for a beautiful facelift beside the setting
and design of the plaques. Artie Vancour, Grant Bergeron, Rick O’Brien,
and Butch Lafrenier did a fantastic job on the painting as well as
anything else that needed to be done.
The girls did the setting of the tags as well as the design,
Sheila Katsonas and Justine Ludwick used their talent for the design and
Trudy and myself as well as Sheila and Justine pulled it together - come
check it out! Darlene D’Amour, Ruth Richard, Becky Reno, Fred Reno,
Sheila Vanastine made a huge dent in the cleaning or whatever else was
needed. If I forget to
mention you I apologize.
Special thanks to Paul Lawrence, wood flooring as well as Jarod Hogan
for redoing the sanding of the bar and redoing the dance floor at no
cost to the post, unbelievable job as well as Skip Bold Carpentry for
the epoxy and carpentry skills can’t say enough about their work
skills!! Come check out your
new grille area and enjoy your new surroundings.
Until next month, keep safe.
